Methods and apparatus are provided for cauterizing predetermined volumes of biological tissue using a user selectable, or adjustable energy applicator including two or more electrodes (28, 29) having electrode parameters configured to cause cauterization of predetermined volumes when operated in a bipolar mode. The energy applicators (21) are employed with a control device (22) that couples the energy applicators to a power source (11), and includes circuitry (39) for interrupting activation of the energy applicator when the current between the two or more electrodes decreases more than a predetermined amount from the current sensed upon initial activation of the energy applicator.
L'invention concerne des procédés et un dispositif pour cautériser des volumes prédéterminés de tissu biologique en faisant appel à un applicateur d'énergie comprenant une fonction de sélection ou de réglage opérable par l'utilisateur. Cet applicateur comprend au moins deux électrodes (28, 29) présentant des paramètres d'électrodes configurés pour provoquer la cautérisation de volumes prédéterminés lorsque l'applicateur est activé dans un mode bipolaire. Les applicateur (21) d'énergie sont utilisés de pair avec un dispositif (22) de commande qui relie les applicateurs d'énergie à une source (11) de courant et comporte des circuits (39) permettant d'interrompre le fonctionnement de l'applicateur d'énergie lorsque le courant entre les électrodes diminue en dessous d'un niveau prédéterminé par rapport au courant détecté lors de la mise en marche de l'applicateur d'énergie.
