An invention is disclosed that optimizes resource management within a Packet Data Serving Node PDSN. This is accomplished through the modification of a Authentication, Authorisation and Accounting (AAA) server. Specifically, when a node (e.g., mobile node) is authenticated by a AAA server in response to a request by a target PDSN to which the node has roamed, the AAA server may send a disconnect request message to a source PDSN indicating that the node has moved from the source PDSN. In this manner, the source PDSN is notified that it should terminate its session with the node and release resources associated with the session (e.g., Point-to-Point Protocol session). The source PDSN may then send a message to the AAA server indicating whether the session was successfully terminated and whether the resources associated with that session were released).

L'invention concerne des procédés et des dispositifs permettant d'optimiser la gestion des ressources dans un noeud de transmission de données en mode paquet (PDSN). Ces procédés consistent à modifier les fonctions d'un serveur d'authentification, d'autorisation et de comptabilité (AAA). Plus précisément, lorsqu'un noeud (un noeud mobile, par exemple) est authentifié par un serveur AAA en réponse à une demande fournie par un PDSN cible associé au noeud, le serveur AAA peut transmettre un message de demande de déconnexion à un PDSN source indiquant que le noeud a quitté le PDSN source. Ainsi, le PDSN est averti qu'il doit mettre fin à sa session avec le noeud et libérer les ressources associées à cette session (session de protocole point-à-point, par exemple).
