The present invention relates to a method and an arrangement for communicating packet in-formation in a digital telecommunications system. Through the invention is selected a set of desig-nated communication resources (ch1-chn) from an available amount of resources. Every packet (P) is forward error correction encoded into an encoded packet (P ci), via one of at least two different cod-ing schemes (c i), prior to being transmitted to a receiving party, over the designated communica-tion resources (ch1-chn). An estimated transmis-sion time is calculated for all combinations of cod-ing scheme (c i) an relevant distribution (d j) of the encoded data blocks (B1-B.GAMMA.), in the encoded packet (P Ci) over the set of designated communication resources (ch1-chn), and the combination (c i, d j) is selected, which minimises the estimated transmis-sion time.

L'invention porte sur un procédé et un dispositif servant à transmettre des informations en paquets à l'intérieur d'un système numérique de télécommunications et consistant à sélectionner un ensemble de ressources de communication désignées (ch1-chn) parmi un ensemble de ressources disponibles. Chacun des paquets (P), codé avec une correction anticipée d'erreurs, est placé dans un paquet codé (Pci) avec l'un au moins de deux schémas de codage (ci) avant d'être transmis à la partie réceptrice via la ressource de communication désignée. On calcule le temps estimé de transmission pour toutes les combinaisons de schéma (ci) de codage ainsi que la distribution correspondante (dj) des blocs de données codées (B1-B GAMMA ) dans le paquet codé (PCi) pour l'ensemble des ressources de communication désignées (ch1-chn), puis on sélectionne la combinaison (ci, dj) qui donne le moindre temps estimé de transmission.
