Systematic methods to detect, verify, and repair a collinear model are presented. After detecting collinearity in a model or subsets of a model, a directional test is carried out to verify if the collinearity is mal. The model can then be adjusted in either direction to making a near collinear model exactly collinear or less collinear, subject to model uncertainty bounds or other linear constraints. When doing the model adjustment, deviations from the original model are minimized and the directionality of the model is kept unchanged.

L'invention porte sur des procédés systématiques de détection, vérification et réparation de colinéarités selon lesquels, après avoir détecté une colinéarité dans un modèle, on effectue un test directionnel pour vérifier si elle est normale, et on ajuste le modèle dans un sens ou un autre pour créer un modèle colinéaire voisin, soit exactement colinéaire, soit moins colinéaire, en fonction des limites d'incertitude des modèles ou d'autres contraintes linéaires. Pendant l'ajustement des modèles, on réduit les déviations par rapport au modèle original tout en en conservant la directionnalité.
