The invention provides methods and compositions for increasing the availability of soluble phosphate and fixed nitrogen for legume: Rhizobium symbioses involving co-inoculating legume seeds with a phosphate-solubilizing soil fungus, Penicillium bilaii, and Rhizobium spp. prior to planting. The two types of microorganisms do not appear to compete for nutrients in the rhizosphere of legumes and the P. bilaii provides a source of available phosphorus for use by the plant without adversely affecting the nitrogen fixation ability of the Rhizobium spp.; and indeed such ability is enhanced. The invention is used to increase the efficiencies of nodulation, nitrogen fixation and legume crop production.
L'invention se rapporte à des procédés et des compositions permettant d'accroître la disponibilité de phosphate soluble et d'azote fixé à des fins de symbioses Rhizobium-légumes, ce procédé consistant à inoculer dans des semences de légume à la fois un champignon du sol à dissolution de phosphate, Penicillium bilaii, et le Rhizobium spp, avant de planter lesdites semences. Ces deux types de micro-organismes ne semblent pas entrer en compétition par rapport aux substances nutritives contenues dans la rhizosphère des légumes, et le P. bilaii fournit une source de phosphore disponible, propre à être utilisée par la plante sans affecter l'aptitude du Rhizobium spp. à fixer l'azote; bien au contraire, cette aptitude s'en trouve renforcée. L'invention est utilisée pour accroître les capacités des légumes en matière de formation de nodosités et de fixation d'azote, ainsi que le rendement des cultures de ces légumes.
