The present invention relates to the mammalian fsh05 gene, a novel gene associated with bipolar affective disorder (BAD) in humans. The invention encompasses fsh05 nucleic acids, recombinant DNA molecules, cloned genes or degenerate variants thereof, fsh05 gene products and antibodies directed against such gene products, cloning vectors containing mammalian fsh05 gene molecules, and hosts that have been genetically engineered to express such molecules. The invention further relates to methods for the identification of compounds that modulate the expression of fsh05 and to using such compounds as therapeutic agents in the treatment of fsh05 disorders and neuropsychiatric disorders. The invention also relates to methods for the diagnostic evaluation, genetic testing and prognosis of fsh05 disorders and neuropsychiatric disorders including schizophrenia, attention deficit disorder, a schizoaffective disorder, a bipolar affective disorder or a unipolar affective disorder, and to methods and compositions for the treatment of these disorders.
La présente invention porte sur le gène mammalien fsh05, nouveau gène associé à la maladie affective bipolaire (BAD) chez l'homme. Cette invention concerne également des acides nucléiques du gène fsh05, des molécules d'ADN recombiné, des gènes clonés ou leurs variantes dégénérées, des produits géniques de fsh05 et des anticorps dirigés contre ces produits géniques, le clonage de vecteurs contenant les molécules du gène mammalien fsh05, et les hôtes qui sont issus du génie génétique pour exprimer ces molécules. Cette invention se rapporte encore à des procédés d'identification des composés qui modulent l'expression de fsh05 et à leur utilisation comme agents thérapeutiques dans le traitement des maladies et troubles dus au gène fsh05; ainsi qu'à des procédés d'évaluation diagnostique, de test génétique et de pronostic des maladies et troubles neuropsychiatriques dus à fsh05 tels que la schizophrénie, les troubles déficitaires de l'attention, les maladies schizophréniques ou les maladies affectives bipolaires, et enfin à des procédés et compositions utilisés dans le traitement de ces pathologies.
