The methods and compositions that are described in the present patent are designed to determine by serial analysis the transcriptional activation pathways used by any compound of interest that is biologically active in a cell. We have engineered a library of transgenic cell lines that allows the identification of simultaneous transcriptionnal pathways when assaayed by a compound. Each cell line which constitute all together with others the collection is stably transfected with a retroviral vector or a plasmid carring a delineate transcription factor responsive-element (TF-RE) representing a specific family of transcription factor. The information gathered by the cell library is indicating the multiple pathways used by a compound to mediates its action. Furthermore, each construct has been tranducted in cell lines of diverses tissus origins in order to allow identification of compound's specificity of action considering cell lineage. Serial analysis of transcription factor family state of activation represent significative improvement of currently used single construct approach
