Methods for increasing and maintaining hematocrit in a mammal comprising administering a hyperglycosylated analog of erythropoietin are disclosed. An analog may be administered less frequently than an equivalent molar amount of recombinant human erythropoietin to obtain a comparable target hematocrit and treat anemia. Alternatively, a lower molar amount of a hyperglycosylated analog may be administered to obtain a comparable target hematocrit and treat anemia. Also disclosed are new hyperglycosylated erythopoietin analogs, methods of production of the analogs, and compositions comprising the analogs.
L'invention concerne des méthodes permettant d'augmenter et de maintenir le pourcentage d'hématocrite chez un mammifère, consistant à administrer un analogue hyperglycosylé d'érythropoiétine. On peut administrer cet analogue moins fréquemment qu'une quantité molaire équivalente d'érythropoiétine humaine de recombinaison, afin d'obtenir un hématocrite cible comparable et traiter l'anémie. Selon un autre mode de réalisation, on peut administrer une quantité molaire inférieure d'un analogue hyperglycosylé, afin d'obtenir un hématocrite cible comparable et traiter l'anémie. L'invention concerne également de nouveaux analogues d'érythopoiétine hyperglycosylés, les méthodes de production de ces analogues, et les compositions comprenant ces analogues.
