Methods for increasing and maintaining hematocrit in a mammal comprising administering a hyperglycosylated analog of erythropoietin are disclosed. An analog may be administered less frequently than an equivalent molar amount of recom-binant human erythropoietin to obtain a comparable target hematocrit and treat anemia. Alternatively, a lower molar amount of a hyperglycosylated analog may be administered to obtain a comparable target hematocrit and treat anemia. Also disclosed are new hyperglycosylated erythropoietin analogs, methods of production of the analogs, and compositions comprising the analogs.
L'invention concerne des méthodes destinées à augmenter et à maintenir un niveau d'hématocrite donné chez un mammifère. Ces méthodes consistent à administrer un analogue hyperglycosylé d'érythropoïétine. Un analogue peut être administré moins fréquemment qu'une quantité molaire équivalente d'érythropoïétine humaine recombinante pour obtenir un hématocrite cible comparable et traiter l'anémie. Dans un autre mode de réalisation, une proportion molaire inférieure d'un analogue hyperglycosylé peut être administrée afin d'obtenir un hématocrite cible comparable et de traiter l'anémie.
