Methods are provided for diagnosing and/or characterizing disease involving abnormal levels of cellular apoptosis activity in a subject. In the subject methods, a sample is obtained from a subject suspected of having or known to have a disease involving abnormal levels of cellular apoptosis. The sample is then assayed for the presence of low molecular weight Actin protein fragments. The assay results are used to diagnose the presence of disease involving abnormal levels of cellular apoptosis activity and/or characterize disease involving abnormal levels of cellular apoptosis activity in the subject, e.g. to confirm an initial disease involving abnormal levels of cellular apoptosis diagnosis, to determine the stage of the disease, to monitor disease progression, to predict disease attacks, and the like. Also provided by the subject invention are kits for practicing the methods.
L'invention concerne des procédés de diagnostic et/ou de caractérisation d'une maladie impliquant des niveaux anormaux d'activité de l'apoptose cellulaire chez un sujet. Dans les procédés selon l'invention, un échantillon est prélevé chez un sujet pouvant être ou étant atteint d'une maladie impliquant des niveaux anormaux de l'apoptose cellulaire. L'échantillon est ensuite testé, aux fins de détection de la présence de fragments de la protéine actine à faible poids moléculaire. Les résultats du test sont utilisés pour diagnostiquer la présence d'une maladie impliquant des niveaux anomaux d'activité de l'apoptose cellulaire et/ou pour caractériser une maladie impliquant des niveaux anormaux d'activité de l'apoptose cellulaire chez le sujet, par exemple, pour confirmer une maladie initiale impliquant des niveaux anormaux du diagnostic de l'apoptose cellulaire, pour déterminer le stade de la maladie, pour surveiller la progression de la maladie, pour prévoir des attaques de la maladie et analogue. L'invention concerne également des kits permettant de mettre en oeuvre les procédés.
