Identification of senescence-related genes can be accomplished by comparing mRNA expression between young and senescent cells. Probes complementary to such genes can be used to detect senescent cells and distinguish between young and senescent cells as well as in screens to identify compounds that alter expression levels of senescence-related genes.

On peut réaliser l'identification de gènes relatifs à la sénescence par comparaison de l'expression de l'ARNm entre des cellules jeunes et des cellules sénescentes. On peut utiliser des sondes complémentaires à ces gènes, afin de détecter des cellules sénescentes et d'établir une distinction entre des cellules jeunes et des cellules sénescentes, ainsi que dans des systèmes de criblage servant à identifier des composés modifiant les niveaux d'expression de gènes relatifs à la sénescence.
