A recorder intercepts a protocol data stream comprising a plurality of packets, sent from a first device to a second device, the protocol data stream representing display data. The recorder copies at least one packet of the protocol data stream. The recorder creates a recording of the protocol data stream using the at least one copied packet. A protocol engine reads the at least one copied packet from the recording of the protocol data stream. The protocol engine uses information associated with the at least one copied packet to regenerate the display data represented by the protocol data stream. In another aspect, a foreground protocol engine receives a request for rendering the contents of a packet in a recording of a protocol data stream, the protocol data stream comprising a plurality of packets. The foreground protocol engine identifies a state-snapshot having an associated timestamp previous to that of the requested packet. The foreground protocol engine displays the requested packet responsive to the identified state-snapshot.
L'invention concerne un enregistreur qui permet d'intercepter un flux de données de protocole comprenant une pluralité de paquets, envoyés d'un premier dispositif à un second dispositif, ledit flux de données de protocole représentant des données d'affichage. L'enregistreur permet de copier au moins un paquet du flux de données de protocole, de créer un enregistrement dudit flux au moyen du paquet copié. Un moteur de protocole permet de lire le paquet copié à partir de l'enregistrement du flux de données de protocole. Ce moteur de protocole utilise les informations liées au paquet copié afin de régénérer les données d'affichage représentées par le flux de données de protocole. Dans un autre aspect de cette invention, un moteur de protocole de premier plan permet de recevoir une demande de rendu des contenus d'un paquet dans un enregistrement d'un flux de données de protocole, ledit flux comprenant une pluralité de paquets. Ce moteur de protocole de premier plan permet d'identifier une copie instantanée d'état possédant une estampille temporelle antérieure à celle du paquet reçu. Le moteur de protocole de premier plan présente le paquet demandé en réponse à la copie instantanée d'état identifiée.
