A method for forming a cylindrical body (40) utilizing a continuous weld is provided. The methods includes feeding a source material (16) including a first edge (36) and a second edge (38) from a coil (14) and offsetting at least one of the first edge (36) and the second edge (38). The method further includes spiraling the material (16) to form a cylinder (40), welding the first edge (36) and the second edge (38) together forming a continuous weld, and cutting the cylinder (40) to a selected length. To fabricate a jacket, a longitudinal cut is made in the cylindrical body (40), at least one cut out is cut, and the continuous weld is an outer fillet weld.
