A method of cutting a quilted material web (20) into a panel (24) having a quilted pattern (32) therein. A mark (48) is applied to the quilted material web at a location within a width and length of the panel; and the quilted material web is moved in a longitudinal direction with respect to the panel. The mark is detected while moving the quilted material web, and a controller (219) determines, with respect to the mark, cutter positions that define the width and the length of the panel. Thereafter, cutters (120, 150, 152) operated by the controller cut the quilted web material along the width and the length of the panel, thereby cutting the panel from the quilted material web.

L~invention concerne un procédé de découpe d'une bande (20) de matériau piqué en un panneau (24) présentant un motif (32) piqué. Une marque (48) est appliquée sur la bande de matériau piqué à un emplacement situé dans les limites d'une largeur et d'une longueur du panneau ; et la bande de matériau piqué est déplacée dans une direction longitudinale par rapport au panneau. La marque est détectée pendant le déplacement de la bande de matériau piqué et une unité (219) de commande détermine, par rapport à la marque, des positions de couteaux qui définissent la largeur et la longueur du panneau. Ensuite, des couteaux (120, 150, 152) actionnés par l'unité de commande découpent la bande de matériau piqué suivant la largeur et la longueur du panneau, détachant ainsi le panneau de la bande de matériau piqué.
