A method of inhibiting cell proliferation and/or cell cycle progression, the method comprising providing within eukaryotic cells a bacterial toxin, in particular a bacterial toxin of a post-segregational killing system such as <i>ParD</i>. Activity or production of toxin and/or inhibitor, e.g. antidote, are controlled for selective killing of target cells, not-target cells. Target cells include tumour cells.

Cette méthode consiste à placer une toxine bactérienne dans des cellules eukaryotes, en particulier une toxine bactérienne d'un système tuant après ségrégation, tel que le <i>ParD</i>. L'activité ou la production de toxine et/ou l'inhibiteur, par exemple un antidote, sont maîtrisés de sorte que les cellules cibles, et non les cellules non-cibles, soient tuées de façon sélective.
