The invention relates to methods for measuring conformational changes and self- assembly/aggregation of proteins, especially the formation of amyloid fibrils, using conjugated polyelectrolytes. The conjugate polyelectrolyte is exposed to the protein whereby the conjugated polyelectrolyte and the protein of interest interact, and a change of a property of said polyelectrolyte in response to conformational changes of the protein is observed. The detected change is used to determine different conformations of said protein, especially the formation of amyloid fibrils.

L'invention concerne des procédés de mesure des modifications conformationnelles et de l'autoassemblage/agrégation de protéines, et tout particulièrement la formation de fibrilles amyloïdes, au moyen de polyélectrolytes conjugués. Le polyélectrolyte conjugué est exposé à la protéine. Le polyélectrolyte conjugué et la protéine examinée interagissent. Une modification d'une propriété dudit polyélectrolyte, consécutive aux modifications conformationnelles de la protéine, est alors observée. La modification détectée sert à déterminer les différentes conformations de ladite protéine, particulièrement la formation de fibrilles amyloïdes.
