Methods for evaluating the risk of an individual to develop Alzheimer's disease using cultured neural crest-derived melanocytes are described. Also described are methods of therapy for Alzheimer's disease using peptides that bind to the neu- rotrophin receptor (p75NTR) and competitively inhibit the binding of .beta.-amyloid to the p75NTR.
Cette invention se rapporte à des procédés qui servent à évaluer le risque qu'un individu développe la maladie d'Alzheimer et qui utilisent à cet effet des mélanocytes dérivés de la crête neurale mis en culture. Cette invention décrit également des procédés de thérapie de la malade d'Alzheimer qui utilisent des peptides qui se fixent au récepteur de neurotrophine (p75<NTR>) et qui inhibent de façon compétitive la fixation de beta -amyloïde au récepteur p75<NTR>.
