Methods for easing a patient's pain and anxiety from atrial or ventricular defibrillation are disclosed. The methods include causing the patient to inhale a medical gas (2) prior to activation of a atrial defibrillation device or subsequent to activation of a ventricular defibrillation device. In the former case, the inhalation produces analgesia, anxiolysis or anterograde amnesia prior to, during and after the atrial defibrillation. In the latter case, the inhalation produces analgesia, anxiolysis or anterograde amnesia.
L'invention concerne des méthodes destinées à soulager la douleur et l'anxiété d'un patient causées par une défibrillation atriale ou ventriculaire. Lesdites méthodes consistent à faire inhaler un gaz médical (2) au patient avant l'activation d'un dispositif de défibrillation atriale ou après l'activation d'un dispositif de défibrillation ventriculaire. Dans le premier cas, l'inhalation produit une analgésie, une anxiolyse ou une amnésie antérograde avant, pendant et après la défibrillation atriale. Dans le deuxième cas, l'inhalation produit une analgésie, une anxiolyse ou une amnésie antérograde.
