Methods for creating and enhancing insect resistance in plants are provided. The methods comprise stably introducing into a plant a combination of polynucleotides comprising a sequence encoding a lipase polypeptide having insecticidal activity and a sequence encoding a Bt insecticidal protein, where each of these coding sequences is operably linked to a promoter that drives expression in a plant cell. Plants with enhanced insect resistance and seed thereof are also provided. The methods of the invention may be used in a variety of agricultural systems for controlling insect pests, including propagating lineages of insect-resistant crops and targeting coexpression of insecticidal lipase and Btinsecticidal protein to plant organs that are particularly susceptible to infestation.
L'invention concerne des méthodes de création et d'accroissement de résistance aux insectes chez des végétaux. Ces méthodes consistent à introduire de manière stable dans un végétal, une combinaison de polynucléotides, comprenant une séquence codant un polypeptide de lipase présentant une activité d'insecticide et une séquence codant une protéine insecticide Bt. Chaque séquence de codage est fonctionnellement reliée à un promoteur qui entraîne l'expression dans une cellule végétale. L'invention concerne des végétaux présentant une résistance accrue aux insectes et des semences provenant de ces végétaux. Les méthodes de l'invention peuvent être utilisées dans une variété de systèmes agricoles pour contrôler des insectes nuisibles, et peuvent notamment consister à propager des lignées de cultures résistant aux insectes et à cibler la coexpression d'une lipase insecticide et d'une protéine insecticide Bt sur des organes végétaux particulièrement sensibles à une infestation d'insectes.
