A finished rotor shaft including shaft extensions and a rotor is fabricated by merging a forging shaft extension model with a selected forging rotor model to generate a forged rotor shaft model. A rough turning shaft extension model is merged with a selected rough turning rotor model to generate a rough turning rotor shaft model. A final turning shaft extension model is merged with a selected final turning rotor model to generate a final turning rotor shaft model. The three rotor shaft models are utilized to fabricate a finished rotor shaft.
