An erosion system (16) including a tough-ened resin (18) for improving erosion resistance, the toughened resin (18) including a resin (22) and a tough-ening agent (24), and a support (20) for retaining the toughened resin (18) where at least one layer of the ero-sion system (16) is applied to a component (10) to pro-vide from about a 50% increase to about a 400% increase in erosion resistance to the component per layer of the erosion system (16).
