Methods for modulating macrophage proliferation in an individual afflicted with or at risk for an ocular disease such as ARMD are provided. The methods employ a polyamine analog, or salt or protected derivative thereof. Macrophage proliferation has been implicated in a number of serious disorders, including ARMD. The invention also provides methods for aiding diagnosis and monitoring therapy of an ocular disease such as ARMD.
La présente invention concerne des procédés permettant de moduler la prolifération macrophage chez une personne atteinte d'une maladie oculaire, telle que la dégénérescence maculaire liée à l'âge (DMLA) ou une personne à risque pour cette maladie. Ces techniques utilisent un analogue de polyamine ou un sel ou un dérivé protéger de celui-ci. La prolifération macrophage est impliquée dans un certain nombre de troubles sérieux, notamment la DMLA.
