The present invention provides methods of inactivating and removing infectious agents from tissues of use in bioprosthetic devices. The methods include the removal and blockage of binding sites on the tissues for the infectious agents. Also provided are methods for blocking a site on an infectious agent that binds to a site on the tissue. The invention also provides a method for preventing or reducing the calcification of a bioprosthetic tissue. The method includes removing or blocking a phospholipid calcium nucleation site from the tissue.

La présente invention concerne des méthodes permettant d'inactiver et d'éliminer des agents infectieux présents dans des tissus destinés à être utilisés dans des dispositifs de bioprothèse. Les méthodes consistent à éliminer et à bloquer les sites de liaison situés sur les tissus en vue d'éliminer les agents infectieux. Cette invention concerne également des méthodes qui permettent de bloquer un site sur un agent infectieux qui se lie à un site situé sur le tissu; et une méthode visant à empêcher ou à réduire la calcification d'un tissu de bioprothèse, ladite méthode consistant à éliminer ou à bloquer un site de nucléation du calcium phospholipidique situé dans le tissu.
