The invention provides a method of forming dental restorations, particularly dental crowns. The method involves applying a flexible cement composition to a prepared tooth surface. The composition is polymerized so that it substantially hardens. A composite crown- forming material is dispensed into a substantially transparent plastic matrix. The matrix is placed in the mouth of the patient so that the composite material is molded over the tooth surface. Then, the material is irradiated with curing light, through the matrix, so that it hardens to form a dental crown. The crown has good mechanical strength and is resistant to fracturing and breaking.

La présente invention concerne un procédé de fabrication de restaurations dentaires, en particulier de couronnes dentaires, à réaliser directement sur le patient. Le procédé implique l~application d~une composition de ciment souple à une surface dentaire préparée. La composition est polymérisée de manière à durcir sensiblement. Un matériau de formation de couronne composite est disposé dans une matrice en plastique sensiblement transparente qui est placée dans la bouche du patient de manière à ce que le matériau composite soit moulé sur la surface dentaire. Puis le matériau est irradié avec une lumière asséchante, à travers la matrice, de manière à durcir pour former une couronne dentaire. Celle-ci présente une bonne résistance mécanique et résiste aux fractures et aux cassures.
