A method for laying down a continuous, predetermined pattern of granular material upon a moving substrate (12) includes moving the substrate past at least one station, including a rotating drum (18) with a drum wall (20) defining a limited retention region under vacuum (34) and a plurality of through-apertures (36) arranged in an element of the desired pattern. Granular material (G) applied to the surface of the drum is held by vacuum in the desired pattern. After removal of excess granular material, the vacuum is discontinued causing the granular material to disengage from the drum surface and pass, by force of gravity, onto the surface of the substrate in the form of the predetermined element of the desired predetermined pattern. An apparatus for laying down a continuous, predetermined pattern of granular material upon a moving substrate is also described.
La présente invention concerne un procédé de dépôt en continu d'une substance granulaire dessinant un motif prédéterminé sur un substrat (12) en mouvement. Le procédé consiste à faire passer un substrat au niveau d'au moins un poste caractérisé par un tambour rotatif (18) dont la paroi (20) définit une zone de rétention limitée (34) sous vide, une pluralité d'orifices traversants (36) étant ménagée dans la paroi suivant un élément du motif souhaité. La substance granulaire (G) appliquée sur la surface du tambour est retenue par le vide suivant le motif souhaité. Après enlèvement de l'excédent de matière granulaire, l'arrêt du phénomène de dépression provoque le détachement de la substance granulaire de la surface du tambour et son transfert, par gravité, sur la surface du substrat, en fonction de la forme de l'élément prédéterminé du motif prédéterminé souhaité. L'invention concerne également un dispositif permettant le dépôt en continu, sur un substrat en mouvement, d'un motif prédéterminé.
