This invention relates to natural diatomaceous earth granule compositions which can be broadcast spread on the soil to deliver a pesticide. Granules retain their physical integrity when spread, and have the unique property to spontaneously disperse when irrigation water is applied or rainfall hits the particle. Upon wetting, the particle disperses (blooms) to cover the soil surface. This bloom can cover an area many times the external surface of the particle. The granules have high loadings of natural diatomaceous earth, i.e. from about 35 to about 95 weight percent and contain from about 5 to about 40 weight percent of a surfactant system which exhibits excellent dispersing, rewetting and binding properties. Bioactive compounds can be loaded at up to 60 weight percent of the granule. Bioactive compounds may be formulated products or technical grades and may be homogeneously distributed throughout the granule or spray impregnated onto the granule.
La présente invention porte sur des compositions de granulés de terre à diatomées naturelles que l'on peut épandre à la volée sur le sol pour déposer un pesticide. Ces granulés, qui gardent leur intégrité physique au moment de leur épandage, présentent la particularité unique de se disperser spontanément au contact de l'eau d'irrigation ou de la pluie sur les particules. Une fois qu'elle est mouillée, la particule se disperse (forme des efflorescences) pour recouvrir la surface du sol. Ces efflorescences peuvent couvrir une surface plusieurs fois supérieure à la surface externe de la particule. Les granulés renferment des quantités élevées de terre à diatomées naturelles, de l'ordre d'environ 35 à environ 95 % en poids, et contiennent entre environ 5 à environ 40 % en poids d'un système tensioactif présentant d'excellentes qualités de dispersion, de remouillage et de liaison. La proportion de composés bioactifs présents dans le granulé peut atteindre jusqu'à 60 % en poids du granulé. Les composés bioactifs, qui peuvent être des produits formulés ou de qualité industrielle, peuvent être répartis de façon homogène dans l'ensemble du granulé ou imprégner le granulé par pulvérisation.
