The present invention relates, in general, to a method of producing L-amino acids comprising culturing altered bacterial cells having increased amounts of NADPH as compared to unaltered bacterial cells whereby L-amino acids yields from said altered bacterial cells are greater than yields from unaltered bacterial cells. The invention also relates to a gene encoding phosphoglucoisomerase.

L'invention concerne, d'une manière générale, un procédé de production de L-aminoacides qui consiste à cultiver des cellules bactériennes modifiées dotées de quantités accrues de NADPH comparée à des cellules bactériennes non modifiées. Les rendements des L-aminoacides obtenus à partir desdites cellules bactériennes modifiées sont supérieurs à ceux provenant de cellules bactériennes non modifiées. L'invention traite également d'un gène codant pour le phosphoglucoisomérase.
