Methods for quantitating HDL cholesterol, comprising adding to serum a surfactant selected from among polyoxyethylene alkylene phenyl ethers and polyoxyethylene alkylene tribenzylphenyl ethers and an enzyme reagent for assaying cholesterol, optionally together with a substance capable of inhibiting the reaction of cholesterol in serum lipoproteins with the above enzyme reagent, and determining the amount of the cholesterol thus reacted within a period of time where cholesterol in HDL, among lipoproteins, preferentially reacts with the above enzyme reagent. By using this method, cholesterol in HDL can be conveniently and efficiently quantitated without resort to any pretreatment such as centrifugation. Thus, it is applicable to various automatic analyzers.

L'invention concerne des méthodes de quantification de cholestérol des lipoprotéines de haute densité, les méthodes consistant à ajouter à un sérum un tensioactif sélectionné entre des éthers de phényle d'alkylène polyoxyéthylène et des éthers de tribenzylphényle d'alkylène polyoxyéthylène et un réactif d'enzyme destiné à doser le cholestérol, éventuellement avec une substance capable d'inhiber la réaction du cholestérol dans les lipoprotéines du sérum avec le réactif d'enzyme, puis de déterminer la quantité de cholestérol ainsi mis en réaction dans un intervalle de temps où le cholestérol dans les lipoprotéines de haute densité, parmi les lipoprotéines, réagit de préférence avec le réactif d'enzyme. L'utilisation de cette méthode permet de quantifier de manière simple et efficace le cholestérol dans les lipoprotéines de haute densité sans recourir à un prétraitement tel que la centrifugation. Cette méthode est donc applicable à plusieurs dispositifs d'analyse automatiques.
