A method for reducing the amount of a proinflammatory substance present at an elevated level in animal tissue or body fluid by orally administering to the animal a proinflammatory substance reducing amount of a composition comprising at least one omega-3 fatty acid. The method is useful for reducing inflammation caused by elevated levels of proinflammatory substances, including inflammation associated with an oral condition.

La présente invention concerne une méthode de réduction de la quantité d'une substance pro-inflammatoire présente à une teneur élevée dans un tissu ou un fluide corporel animal, ladite méthode consistant à administrer oralement à l'animal une quantité réduisant la teneur en substance pro-inflammatoire d'une préparation comprenant au moins un acide gras oméga-3. La méthode peut être employée pour réduire des inflammations provoquées par des teneurs élevées en substances pro-inflammatoires, ce qui inclut les inflammations associées à un état pathologique oral.
