Methods for regenerating or improving the regeneration of a particulate filter and for improving the performance of a particulate filter during the operation of an internal combustion engine comprise lubricating the engine with a lubricant composition comprising additives that when combusted can form an ash deposit in the filter. The methods are particularly useful for diesel particulate filters on diesel engines that are equipped with an exhaust gas recirculation system.

La présente invention a trait à des procédés pour la régénération ou l'amélioration d'un filtre à particules et pour l'amélioration d'un filtre à particules lors du fonctionnement d'un moteur à combustion interne comprenant la lubrification du moteur avec une composition lubrifiante comprenant des additifs qui lors de leur combustion peuvent former un dépôt de cendres dans le filtre. Les procédés sont particulièrement utiles pour de filtres à particules diesel sur des moteurs diesel qui sont équipés d'un système de recyclage des gaz d'échappement.
