The present invention relates to a method of synchronising a plurality of generators 2 connected together in parallel to a supply network 10. A common synchronisation signal can be generated having a frequency versus time pattern that is the same as the frequency versus time pattern of the supply network 10 during normal operating conditions. The common synchronisation signal is then supplied to each of the generators 2 to control the level of power that is supplied to the supply network 10 by the generators.
