In one aspect, the invention provides methods of inhibiting the effects of MASP-2-dependent complement activation in a living subject. The methods comprise the step of administering, to a subject in need thereof, an amount of a MASP-2 inhibitory agent effective to inhibit MASP-2-dependent complement activation. In some embodiments, the MASP-2 inhibitory agent inhibits cellular injury associated with MASP-2-mediated alternative complement pathway activation, while leaving the classical (C l q-dependent) pathway component of the immune system intact. In another aspect, the invention provides compositions for inhibiting the effects of lectin-dependent complement activation, comprising a therapeutically effective amount of a MASp-2 inhibitory agent and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier.
Dans un premier aspect, l'invention concerne des procédés d'inhibition des effets de l'activation du complément dépendante de MASP-2 sur un sujet vivant. Ces procédés consistent à administrer au sujet une dose d'un inhibiteur de MASP-2 qui inhibe efficacement l'activation du complément dépendante de MASP-2-. Dans certains modes de réalisation, l'inhibiteur de MASP-2 empêche la lésion cellulaire associée à l'activation du processus du complément de remplacement régulée par MASP-2, tout en laissant intact le composant de processus (C1q-dépendent) classique du système immunitaire. Dans un autre aspect, l'invention concerne des compositions qui inhibent les effets de l'activation du complément dépendant de la lectine et qui renferment une dose thérapeutiquement efficace d'un inhibiteur de MASp-2 ainsi qu'un excipient pharmaceutiquement acceptable.
