The invention provides a method of reducing the severity and reversing the neurological effects of a demyelinating disease in a subject by administering to a subject having a demyelinating disease an effective amount of a neutralizing agent specific for interferon inducible protein of 10 kDa (IP- 10). The methods of the invention promote remyelination of demyelinated nerve fibers and impede further demyyelination of nerve fibers in a subject affected with a demyelinating disease by administering to a subject having a demyelinating disease.
L'invention concerne une méthode de réduction de la gravité et d'inversion des effets neurologiques d'une maladie démyénilisante chez un sujet, consistant à administrer à un sujet atteint d'une maladie démyénilisante une dose efficace d'un agent neutralisant spécifique à la protéine inductible par interféron de 10 kDa (IP-10). Les méthodes de l'invention stimulent la remyénilisation de fibres nerveuses démyénilisées et empêchent une démyénilisation plus profonde de fibres nerveuses chez un sujet affecté par une maladie démyénilisante par administration à un sujet atteint d'une maladie démyénilisante.
