A method for treating presbyopia utilizes an Erbium based, pulsed laser to sever sub-conjunctival strictures located within the scleral matrix of the eye. Introduction of treatment energy into the scleral matrix increases or facilitates an increase in accommodation, thereby mitigating the effects of presbyopia. The treatment energy can be directed into the scleral matrix to form tunnel ablations in and through the strictures of the scleral matrix. The tunnel ablations can enhance the accommodation of the patient's eye, enabling the eye to refocus at near distances while not losing its ability to focus at a distance.
L'invention concerne une méthode de traitement de la presbytie dans laquelle est utilisé un laser pulsé pour séparer des sténoses sous-conjonctivales situées dans la matrice sclérale de l'oeil. L'introduction de l'énergie de traitement dans la matrice sclérale augmente ou facilite l'augmentation de l'accomodation, atténuant ainsi les effets de la presbytie. L'énergie de traitement peut être dirigée dans la matrice sclérale pour former des ablations de tunnel dans et à travers les sténoses de la matrice sclérale. Les ablations de tunnel permettent d'améliorer l'accomodation de l'oeil du patient, permettant à l'oeil de refocaliser à des distances proches tout en ne perdant pas sa capacité de focalisation à une certaine distance.
