The present invention is directed to methods for restoring reading vision and increasing the amplitude of accommodation in presbyopic patients (figure 1). The method involves topically administering to the patient an amount of a composition sufficient to inhibit acetylcholine esterase activity in the eye of the patient. The invention discloses dose ranges of acetylcholine esterase inhibitor in the composition used for restoring reading vision and increasing the amplitude of accommodation in presbyopic patients and successful correction of presbyopia in these patients. The methods disclosed herein are also used to treat other disorders such as dry eye syndrome, hyperopia, myopia, amblyopia, glaucoma and cataracts.
La présente invention concerne des méthodes destinées à restaurer la vision de lecture et à augmenter l'amplitude d'accommodation chez des patients presbytes (figure 1). Cette méthode consiste à administrer, par voie topique, une dose suffisante d'une composition, pour inhiber l'activité de l'acétylcholinestérase dans l'oeil du patient. L'invention concerne des gammes de doses d'inhibiteur de l'acétylcholinestérase dans la composition, utilisées pour restaurer la vision de lecture et augmenter l'amplitude d'accommodation chez des patients presbytes et pour corriger efficacement la presbytie chez ces patients. Ces méthodes sont également utiles pour traiter d'autres troubles, telle que la kératoconjonctivite sèche, l'hypermétropie, la myopie, l'amblyopie, le glaucome et les cataractes.
