ABSTRACT In the production of a pile fabric by the method described in Canadian Patent No. 974,975 in which pile tufts are implanted in a layer of adhesive and the adhesive is subsequently heated to reduce the viscosity of the adhesive temporarily, the pile tufts are subjected to a tamping operation while the viscosity of the adhesive is reduced.
