ABSTRACT A method and and apparatus for forming a joint in an end of a pipe or fitting (22). A connector (1) has a groove (7) or grooves (7, 8) with O-rings (20) in the grooves (7, 8), The portion of the connector including the grooves (7, 8) and O- rings (20) is placed in the end of the pipe (22) and the pipe is crimped about the connector with a crimping tool to establish a mechanical and sealing joint between the connector (1) and the pipe (22).
