ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A method of decarburizing molten ESR slags to reduce carbon pick up in corrosion resistant alloys is pro- vided in which FE203 is added to the molten slag prior to remelting the metallic electrode in amounts sufficient to reduce carbon in the slag to a desired level.
