Methods of screening for a tumor or tumor progression to the metastatic state are disclosed. The screening methods are based on the characterization of DNA by principal components analysis of spectral data yielded by Fourier transform- infrared spectroscopy of DNA samples. The methods are applicable to a wide variety of DNA samples and cancer types. A model developed using multivariate normal distribution equations and discriminant analysis is particularly well suited for distinguishing primary cancerous tissue from metastatic cancerous tissue.
L'invention concerne des méthodes de dépistage de tumeur ou de progression de tumeur jusqu'au stade métastatique. Le méthodes de dépistage reposent sur la caractérisation d'ADN au moyen d'une analyse d'éléments principaux de données spectrales obtenues par une spectroscopie infrarouge à transformée de Fourier d'échantillons d'ADN. Les méthodes sont applicables à un large éventail d'échantillons d'ADN et de types de cancers. Un modèle développé, qui emploie des équations de distribution normale à plusieurs variables et une analyse de discriminants, convient particulièrement pour distinguer un tissu cancéreux primaire d'un tissu cancéreux métastatique.
