The present invention provides a therapeutic method for removing amyloid fibrils from a patient. The present invention also provides a transgenic animal that develops systemic AA amyloidosis within three weeks for use as a tool to investigate AA amyloidosis and to evaluate agents that may be potentially useful in preventing and treating amyloid-related disorders. Further, the present invention provides diagnostic assays for monitoring immunoglobulin light chain fibrillogenesis in real-time and for iden-tification of the chemical nature of the protein in amyloid deposits which enables the determination of the type of amyloidosis for therapeutic and prognostic purposes.
La présente invention concerne une technique thérapeutique permettant d'éliminer des fibrilles d'amylose chez un patient. Cette invention concerne aussi un animal transgénique qui développe une amylose AA systémique en trois semaines de façon à utiliser ce dernier comme outil pour étudier l'amylose AA et pour évaluer des agents qui sont potentiellement utiles dans la prévention et le traitement des troubles liés aux protéines amyloïdes. Enfin, cette invention concerne des dosages de diagnostic permettant de mesurer la fobrillogenèse de chaîne légère d'immunoglobulines en temps réel et d'identifier la nature chimique de la protéine dans les dépôts amyloïdes, ce qui permet de déterminer le type d'amylose à des fins de thérapie et de pronostic.
