The present invention relates to a method of preparing a hollow polymeric particle wherein a water-insoluble monomer, water-insoluble organic solvent, seed polymeric particle, oil-soluble initiator and dispersion stabilizer are dispersed in a hydrophilic organic solvent to form a dispersion system, in which the solubilities of said water-insoluble monomer, water-insoluble organic solvent and oil-soluble initiator were reduced to effect forcible absorption of these solutes into said seed polymeric particle, in which said water-insoluble monomer is polymerized selectively.
