The present invention provides for novel methods to facilitate germplasm improvement activities through the use of high throughput, nondestructive sampling of seeds. In one embodiment, a high-throughput, non-destructive method for analyzing individual seeds in a population of seeds comprises removing a sample from a plurality of seeds in the population while preserving the germination viability of the seed and analyzing the sample for the presence or absence of one or more characteristics of at least one genetic or chemical trait.

L'invention concerne de nouvelles méthodes favorisant des activités d'amélioration de germoplasme via un échantillonnage de semences non destructeur et à rendement élévé. Dans un mode de réalisation, un procédé non destructeur à rendement élevé pour l'analyse de semences individuelles dans une population de semences consiste à prélever un échantillon de plusieurs semences dans la population de semences tout en préservant la viabilité de germination de la semence; et à analyser l'échantillon pour détecter la présence ou l'absence d'une ou de plusieurs caracteristiques d'au moins un trait génétique ou chimique.
