The invention teaches methods and compositions for removing thrombi lodged in the microvasculature of an organ. To remove the thrombi, the organ may be perfused, flushed or washed with a suitable perfusion solution to which a sufficient amount of a thrombolytic agent, such as Streptokinase, has been added. The perfusing, flushing or washing process of the organ with the thrombolytic agent will promote thrombolysis on existing thrombi, prevent the formation of new thrombi in the organ, and/or open the vasculature of the organ thereby decreasing vascular resistance and increasing flow. The method of the invention may be practiced using an organ perfusion apparatus that would allow the viability of the organ to be sustained and/or restored upon perfusion with a thrombolytic agent.

L'invention concerne des méthodes et des compositions destinées à extraire des thrombus logés dans le système microvasculaire d'un organe. Pour extraire ces thrombus, l'organe peut être perfusé, rincé ou nettoyé avec une solution de perfusion appropriée à laquelle on a ajouté une dose suffisante d'un agent thrombolytique tel qu'une streptokinase. L'opération de perfusion, de rinçage ou de nettoyage de l'organe avec cet agent thrombolytique favorise la thrombolyse sur des thrombus existants, et permet d'empêcher la formation de nouveaux thrombus dans cet organe et/ou d'ouvrir le système vasculaire dudit organe, d'où une diminution de la résistance vasculaire et une augmentation du débit d'écoulement. La méthode de l'invention peut être mise en oeuvre au moyen d'un appareil de perfusion d'organe assurant la viabilité de l'organe à traiter et/ou à restaurer après une perfusion avec un agent thrombolytique.
