The present invention provides a methods for promoting the differentiation of cells. In one aspect, the method comprises the steps of providing cells and contacting the cells with at least one chromatin-remodeling agent, wherein the at least one chromatin- remodeling agent increases the expression of PDX-1 within the cells. The present invention includes uses corresponding to the method.
