ABSTRACT Methyl [5-(2-thienylhydroxymethyl)-1H-benzimi- dazol-2-yl]carbamate is a potent antimitotic agent. It can be prepared by reduction of methyl [5-(2-thenoyl)- 1H-benzimidazol-2-yl]carbamate. The invention also provides antimitotic compositions containing the compound of the invention.
