3633 METRONIDAZOLE PHOSPHATE AND SALTS ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE This invention relates to novel compounds of the formula: Image wherein X ? is a pharmacologically acceptable cation. The compounds are water soluble and are compounded with pharmaceutical carriers to form compositions which are useful as medical treatment for those conditions for which metronidazole is useful in treating. The compounds of the Formula I are derivatives of the antibiotic compound metronidazole which is disclosed in U.S. Patent No. 2,944,061. -1-
