Abstract of the Disclosure Spent seed is regenerated in a magnetohydrodynamic power plant through the use of a dry method in which the seed is mixed with pulverized coal and formed into pellets. The pellets are raised to a temperature below their melting point, and the spent seed, an alkali-metal sulfate, is reduced to the corresponding sulfide. The sulfide particles are then fed to a fluidized bed through which carbon dioxide and steam are blown, the alkali-metal sulfide thereby being converted to the corresponding car- bonate, which is the desired seed material.
