ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Novel lustrous pigments based on mica flakes are provided herein. Such mica flake pigment consists essentially of mica flakes which are 5 - 200 microns in diameter and 0.1 - 5 microns in thickness, coated by precipi- tation with 10 - 90% by weight of the pigment of a continuous smooth uniform layer of tin dioxide or a hydrate thereof, with a layer thickness of from 20 - 200 .pi.m. Such pigments have been found to be light stable in use.
