A micro-lens array (11) with a precisely aligned aperture mask (17), and a method of forming the same, is provided. The aperture mask is formed by projecting light (52) onto a mask layer (16) using each lenslet (22) in the micro-lens array. The intensity of the light and the mask layer material are chosen so that the light forms apertures (32) in the mask layer via a non- ablative process. The resulting apertures are automatically aligned with their respective lenslets.

L'invention concerne un réseau de microlentilles comprenant un masque perforé aligné avec précision, et son procédé de formation. Le masque perforé est formé par projection de lumière sur une couche de masque à l'aide de chaque lentille du réseau de microlentilles. L'intensité de la lumière et la matière dont est faite la couche de masque sont sélectionnées de façon que la lumière forme des ouvertures dans la couche de masque par un processus non ablatif. Les ouvertures obtenues sont automatiquement alignées par rapport à leurs microlentilles respectives.
