A film material utilizing a regular two-dimensional array of non-cylindrical lenses to enlarge micro-images, called icons, to form a synthetically magnified image through the united performance of a multiplicity of individual lens/icon image systems. The synthetic magnification micro-optic system includes one or more optical spacers (5), a micro-image formed of a periodic planar array of a plurality of image icons (4) having an axis of symmetry about at least one of its planar axes and positioned on or next to the optical spacer (5), and a periodic planar array of image icon focusing elements (1).

L'invention concerne un matériau de film utilisant un réseau régulier bidimensionnel de lentilles non cylindriques qui permet d'agrandir des micro-images, appelées icônes, afin de former une image agrandie de manière synthétique par l'intermédiaire de performances combinées d'une multiplicité de systèmes individuels d'image de lentille/icône. Un système micro-optique d'agrandissement synthétique comprend un ou plusieurs espaceur(s) optique(s) (5), une micro-image formée d'un réseau planaire périodique d'une pluralité d'icônes d'image (4) présentant un axe de symétrie au moins autour ses axes planaires et positionnée sur ou à proximité de l'espaceur optique (5), et un réseau planaire périodique d'icônes d'image focalisant des éléments (1) possédant un axe de symétrie au moins autour ses axes planaires, cet axe de symétrie étant le même axe planaire que celui du réseau planaire de micro-images (4).
